The weather Thursday did not disappoint. After being cooped up for 2 days, the kids were loving the beach. Elena set to work building a sand castle, while Eli and Olivia hung out in the baby pool, drinking salt water. After the beach we hit the pool for awhile, then took a break for lunch so we wouldn't fry ourselves. One of the highlights of the house for the kids was the outdoor shower. Sometimes the older girls would spend half an hour out there prancing around and building a dam with bricks by it (and unless you're coming with me on the next trip to help entertain/babysit the kids, I don't want to hear a thing about wasting water!). The little ones loved it as well, except when Eli figured out how to turn the spigot on full blast and nearly castrated himself. I hope cute little naked baby bottoms don't offend anyone.
After lunch we drove over to Seaside to check it out and hit some of the cute shops over there. For those of you who aren't familiar with it's claim to fame, it was the set of the movie "The Truman Show." Cute little houses and shops. My kids clean up well, don't you think?
This is really the post office. I want to live here forever . . . especially when one of the shopkeepers casually mentions that it's frequented by a certain set of Manning brothers.
We spent a little more of the afternoon in the pool, then we decided it might be a good evening to go out to eat. We'd all been hankering for seafood, so we thought it would be a good idea to drive into Panama City to Captain Alexander's. Did I say "thought?" Eli screamed most of the way there, I got us all lost (iPhone GPS failed me miserably), we had to wait forever, and by the time we were seated the kids were in no mood to have a nice meal. I think the food was pretty good, but I literally inhaled it so we could get back to the house. No chicken fingers for my kids, though! I was so proud, Elena at shrimp and fish, and Eli ate some of my she-crab soup and fish. Yum-o.
