It’s been a busy few weeks in the life of this blogger. It can be feast or famine when it comes to attending blog-related events. Sometimes there’s nothing and then other times, as in recently, it seems there’s always something to do and somewhere to be. We’ve been to Stuckey Farm, to check out their new Adventure Acres. We’ve spent time with some of Indiana’s Family of Farmers, to see how and where they farm. We’ve been in Fortville, to see what a treasure this small Indiana town is.
Thank goodness I have a bright-eyed, bushy-tailed eager assistant to help me out.
You didn’t know I hired? Didn’t realize I was just that big of a deal?
Before you get all jealous and worry that you missed the opportunity of a lifetime to be my personal social media assistant, let me assure you it’s not all that glamourous.
Sometimes you have to sit on my lap.
You pretty much get paid in fro-yo and Taco Bell. I have a hard time respecting the work/life boundaries, and will probably bark at you to clean your room and wash your face (but can you forward me those pics you took on the hayride first?). You’ll see me in my pajamas more than you’re probably comfortable with.
Oh, and you probably weren’t qualified anyways. Not unless I gave birth to you.
Yes, Elena has been my right-hand gal on several of these recent expeditions. She interviewed a band. She takes pretty darn good photos.
And most importantly, she’s learned to promote with the best of them …. I mean, just look at the fine use of hashtags on Instagram (an account, may I mention, that has more than twice the amount of followers of mine!).
I think it will be fascinating to see what this generation of kids that have grown up in the spotlight of their parents’ blogs will do when it comes to social media. Will they shun it? Will they hate us? Will there be a new area of niche blogging just for them to tell their tales?
I don’t know, but I have a feeling this one will wise up pretty soon and start demanding to be paid for real … as in cold, hard cash, not free chicken nuggets and promotional products. In other words, I have a feeling she’ll be just like her boss mother.

Your working conditions sound vastly better than the conditions at her current place of employment … PLUS you’re a food blogger and you have cats. There’s no way I can compete with that!

I love this– and yes, I do wonder what these kids of ours will do as they grow into curating their own content. Yesterday I had to make an Instagram video, and Meg knew all about jotting down a script and loosely directing her brother. I have a funny feeling they will some serious skills in the social department!

I see a niche of “Mom Bloggers … Where Are They Now” blogs in our future with lots of embarrassing photos of us eating at MCL and getting our chin hairs plucked.
