I guess this only applies if I had the proverbial bucket list readily available to cross things off of. I do have a kind-of, sort-of bucket list floating around on my head, though. If I took the time to write it down and commit, then appearing on NPR would definitely make the list.
Last Friday morning, a 5-minute clip of the interview my mom and I did for StoryCorps at Conner Prairie aired during WFYI's broadcast of "Morning Edition." Did you hear it? I was so excited. So was my mom and Mike . . . so excited, in fact, that they completely missed it.
If you missed it as well, or if you just aren't cool enough to live in Indianapolis, you're in luck. You can listen to it, along with other StoryCorps interviews that were conducted, through the Conner Prairie website. We'll also be featured in the Member's Magazine and in a listening exhibit at Conner Prairie.
It's funny, when I received the call last week from Conner Prairie letting me know that we would be featured, they kept thanking us for participating. Sitting down to do that interview with my mom was one of the most meaningful things I've ever had the opportunity to do. Not only that, but we came away with a recording that will be treasured among her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren for years to come.
So I do believe it's the other way around, StoryCorps, WFYI, and Conner Prairie: thank you.
