Fall is here! And don't tell me it's really not fall because it's 90 degrees out right now. It's fall, dammit, and here are 6 (could it be any other number?) things I'm loving right now:
1. Anything apple related. The Apple Store at Conner Prairie (Apple cider doughnuts? Yes, please!). Stuckey Farm (The best apple cider slushies, hands down). Crisp local apples. Mulled cider. Apple recipes from friends who aren't afraid of ugly apples. I could go on and on.
2. Pumpkin spice lattes are back, baby. This officially begins my expensive season at Starbucks. I love coffee, but I don't particulary like their coffee. From February to September my drink of choice at Starbucks is actually chai. Once they start pouring pumpkin and gingerbread syrups into their coffee, though, I'm helpless.
3. Peter King's Monday Morning Quarterback. I dream about throwing back a few and talking nothing but football with Peter King. He just has this way of weaving stories around stats and news bites that pulls me in. While I wait for him to call, I appease myself with his weekly column instead.
4. Bell's Octoberfest. This will be my first fall that I've been really into craft beer. Between this new weakness and the pumpkin spice lattes and the upcoming holiday feasts? I better add daily runs to my list of fall favorites or I'm gonna need some stretchy pants real soon.
5. New shows. Looking forward to new episodes of our old favorites (How I Met Your Mother, Modern Family, Big Bang Theory, and The Good Wife), along with a batch of what could turn into new favorites (Boardwalk Empire – don't let me down!)
6. Fantasy football and Survival Football. I'm in my second season of fantasy football in my girls-only league. We all know each other through Twitter, hence we are the #FFLBabes. In what surely shows my growth as a fantasy team owner, I waited until the second round to draft Peyton Manning this year. And I drafted a Patriot (Wes Welker). What can I say, mama wants a title this year. Mike talked me into joining his Survival Football league. Basically you all throw in some cash and then each week you pick one team you think will win. You can only pick a team once. Once your team loses, you're out. I love that I'm the only girl in the league, and probably the only one that doesn't play poker. My goal is to win and then out myself, leaving them all crying and questioning their man cards.
It's a quirky list, but it's what I'm loving now that it's fall. How about you? What are you giddy about right now?

1. Apple Store. I went on day 2 and was highly disappointed. Apples weer WAY overpriced. I bought a bag of 6 apples and a bag of caramel apple puff things- that contain no actual apple- and it cost me $12. And they only had Ginger Gold apples. Which I like. But I wanted variety. They said more were coming after closing that day. Hm. Other pricing issues popped up for me- a large jar of cherry butter was $5 and the small jar was $6. Huh? So I left feeling ripped off and not wanting to go back. Bitterly disappointed because I’d been SO psyched for it.
2. Those Starbucks drinks in the fall and winter are awesome! I will sometimes treat myself to one at Target but I won’t go out of my way for it.
3. um… huh? Sorry- I’m not a football fan. I know enough to yell at the screen during a game.
4. I’m just starting to redevelop a taste and love of beer- need to check this out!
5. LOVING the new TV shows already!!
6. See #3. Clueless on this one! 🙂
The Earth Festival in Atlanta, IN used to be part of ringing in Fall each year but we’ve missed the last 2 years and it doesn’t look like we will make it this year.
A new heralding of Fall is the smell of evening fire pits in the neighborhood.
I’m looking forward to the leaves changing.
And Fall means I am getting excited about running again and having weather where I can run outside!!

apples and tv, I can totally relate. I’m all about football, assuming that it’s MSU Spartans football. Oh, and the beer, all over it. I love me a good Michigan (Bells) beer any day of the week.

Yeah, I can see how you would be disappointed if you went to the Apple Store solely to buy apples. They are expensive there. I buy my apples directly from the orchards. We hit up the apple store for treats: caramel apples, donuts, apple cider slushies. Then we hang out on the playground or run around Conner Prairie for a bit.
Join us for Girls Pint Out sometime – you'll find all kinds of new beers to fall in love with!

The Festivals in the fall! Earth Festival (missed this year for the first time in I don’t know how long), Covered Bridge Festival, and Riley Days in Greenfield. Need a second job though to hit them all and fill up my cart! Bought a new tablecloth I can’t wait to put on my table that’s very plaid and very orange. Pumpkin Spice lattes…with ya’ there, sister. And, of course, COLTS FOOTBALL! Love the boys of Fall!
