Our lovely friends Aimee and Ed have been kind enough to lend us a Little Tikes Cozy Coupe for Eli. Mike brought it home the other day, but looked a little bit crestfallen as he told me he had it in the truck. Aimee and Ed are the parents of an adorable little girl, and alas Ed failed to mention to Mike that the Cozy Coupe was pink and purple. Although knowing Ed, that was all the more reason to make sure it went to Mike's son. Regardless, I'm very grateful and Eli loved it right away. Of course, Elena did, too. It's only been in the house for 48 hours and she's already been grounded from it twice. The first day she tried to push Eli out the front door and subsequently got him stuck and his foot mangled in the wheel.
She got a second chance this morning, and within minutes I hear Eli screaming and find the two of them in a heap by the car. We needed to be out the door in 5 minutes, so I grumbled at her and tried to console Eli. Nothing I did worked. And then, as I'm buckling him in his carseat to take Elena to school, it dawns on me that since I found him crying by the car he hasn't a) stopped crying b) made any attempt to crawl or c) used his right arm for anything. CRAP! Yes, Elena had managed somehow to pull the kid's arm out of the socket. So after dropping her off we paid a visit to the pediatrician so she could kindly put my son back together. He was beside himself as she was manipulating his arm, and as soon as she was done he promptly kicked her. Hard. But within minutes he was his old self again.
Mike was none too pleased when I relayed the story back to him. Apparently he forgot the time he pulled Elena's arm out of the socket when she was 7 months old and panicked and screamed, "I broke her little baby arm! Look at her arm!! AAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!"
On a perkier note, in the 2 minutes we've had the car that Elena has been playing nicely with it, I got this ditty:
Me: Elena, it's time for your bath.
Elena: Just a minute, mom. I have to finish parallel parking the car.

Your stories are too much! You caught Eli’s injury well within normal limits…my son once broke his arm at 4PM and didn’t see the doctor until the next day!!
