Four times a day, five days a week, I drive down 146th Street here in good ol' Hamilton County, Indiana. I've been up and down this particular stretch of road so many times that the landmarks along the way have long since faded into the scenery. And then, one day in late May, something comes along that snaps me back to full attention.
Spencer Farm adds "Strawberries" to their sign that sits faithfully there at the corner of 146th Street and River Road.
Oh happy day! I've been picking strawberries at Spencer Farm since I was a kid. My high school boyfriend drove the "Berry Buggy" (which, like that particular beau, is long gone). Now I haul my own kids there every year.
We soak up the Indiana sun and the warmth that we've missed all winter long and fill our flat with these beauties.
I've found some great links around the web to help you use up all these delicious strawberries I just know you'll run out and pick yourself. I'll be trying them, too . . . with our second batch of berries. We just can't help ourselves, and we eat that first batch up like a bowl of candy.

do you know if it’s still season? I want to go this week sometime.

They are! When I picked last week there were tons of berries still ripening on the vine. I think the season runs until mid to late June. Have fun!

Thanks for the link love! I’m honored. Too bad it’s our last week of berries here – all these recipes look lovely. Well, there’s always next strawberry season!
P.S. Delvin Farms is adding a” pick your own” strawberry patch next year.
