There's a new sound, it's the newest sound around,
it's the sound that's made by . . .
children once again tucked away at school.
{Holla if you loved the Muppet Show as a kid, too.}
Yes, the children Six started school this morning. So here I sit, in utter silence, drinking my coffee uninterrupted. And here is where some mothers might delve into a meaningful essay on missing their children and the heaviness of the silent house on their hearts.
Not me. I might have been wistful for the teeniest second, but then I took an entire dump without once being solicited for help wiping my own bum. I didn't have to mediate one single squabble with my underwear around my ankles, craning my head out of the bathroom door.
Nope, I'm quite content with my empty home at the moment.
Sure, I will be happy to see these faces come 3 o'clock.
But I will not miss the imminent bumping and shoving, followed by high-pitched squeals of indignation that accompany these faces.
I love these guys to pieces and pieces, but sometimes the sweetest part of them is their backs as they walk into the doors of school.

I can now only dream…

I’m so glad I’m not the only one! I LOVE the quiet as well as grocery shopping alone, morning TV with no cartoons involved, and yes, going to the bathroom with no interuptions is bliss!
