I've written before about my wonderful playgroup here in Indy. It's hard to believe, but it's going on two years since we all met and started hanging out. All of the kids have August or September birthdays. In what may very well be the best idea ever (at least as far as birthdays go), we celebrate their birthdays as a group during one of our playgroup get-togethers. I'd say it was just another excuse to eat, but yeah, we pretty much make an excuse to eat every week. Just another reason why this playgroup rocks. It was a lot of fun looking at this year's pictures and comparing them with the pictures from last year.
Last year's group shot:
This year's group shot. We are missing one kiddo – Jackson – whose mom is back to work this year. Otherwise the kids are arranged in almost the exact same position as last year:
Looking back at the pictures from Eli last year, I reflect on two things. Number one, he was still months away from walking at this point, preferring his "Jungle Book" crawl over traditional crawling. Number two, look at that beautiful curly baby hair! Having just taken him for a big boy haircut today makes me all the more wistful for those sweet curls.
There is one thing that hasn't changed since last year, though. He's still very much into CAKE!!! (He doesn't say the word cake, it's much too important. It must be shouted and accompanied by a body that shakes with anticipation of the sugary goodness.) As in, you can take my picture, lady, but don't even think about taking my CAKE!!!
Happy Birthday, friends. Here's to many more playgroup birthday parties together.

do you think we’ll be able to strap them into their high chairs for next year’s birthday party?
great pictures as always, I’m jealous of your camera and your ability. 🙂
hard to believe we’ve been meeting every single week for almost 2 years now huh? good times, good times.

I think we should strap them in high chairs until they’re at least 16.

I just kept going back and forth and back and forth between the two pictures. Ugh, they grow so fast!
(and they’re really stinking cute.)
