I love consignment shopping for my kids. There are certain things that happen every year that I look forward to all year long: the Indiana State Fair, the first strawberries of the season, the beginning of football season. And consignment sale season.
Only consignment sale season is even better, because it happens twice a year! Seriously. Even Christmas isn't cool enough to come around twice. I find the best stuff for my kids at these sales. Adorable clothes, shoes that are either new or barely worn, fabulous toys and books, and even Mr. Rody pony right up there. And everything is a fraction of the cost you would pay for it brand new. The thrill of the hunt and the joy of a bargain found, what more can you ask for?
The shopping is fun in and of itself, but if you can round up some things your kids have outgrown and put them in the sale as a consignor you get a triple reward: getting rid of things you no longer need, making some extra money, and the privilege of shopping the consignment sale early. I've found some really incredible steals by participating in sales and taking advantage of the pre-sale. If you don't have anything to sell, many sales will allow you to shop early in exchange for volunteering to work during part of the sale.
For those of you in the Indy area, an excellent sale is just around the corner. The Just Between Friends spring sale is coming up April 30-May 2 at the Hamilton County Fairgrounds in Noblesville. Check out their website for more information. If you aren't in the Indy area, check out Just Between Friends homepage. They have sales throughout the country.
Hope to see you there!

GROSS, GROSS, GROSS! Used clothes are TOTALLY disgusting, and any parent who puts their children in them should be put in touch with the department of children’s services.
Do you really put your kids in other people’s clothing? What another FOOLISH MOMMY BLOGGER!
(I just thought you might enjoy some heckling to make you feel more like Dooce…)

I have a new found hobby…thrift store shopping! My step daughter has a great talent in repurposing thrift store finds into great new clothing. I’ve found new (with the tags on) stuff for my little one, and some great things for me too!
In today’s economic times, it is SMART to pair thrift store or consignment store things with new great pieces.
And yes, I ALWAYS wash things BEFORE I wear them (ewwwww!)

I am so all over this one. thanks for the heads up!

The heckling would be even better if it were accompanied by one of Dooce’s paychecks.

I love me some bargains! I will so be hitting up that sale (unless I have a baby first)- I don’t know which I want to do more- have the baby or go to the sale! 🙂 Are you consigning at this sale too?
Angie Six says
Maybe you’ll go into labor AT the sale!! I’m not consigning this time, but I thought I’d share info about the sale. I’ve been twice now and it’s a really good one.
