Most days this blog of mine is centered around my own little family and my own self. And that's fine, and most days I think it's what my readers want. In the last couple of months, through time spent at Blissdom and through learning about the ins and outs of social media sites like Twitter, I've come to realize that this blog, little as it may be, has the power to impact others beyond an entertaining (I hope!) read now and then.
My friend Scott at Mediasauce is part of a new campaign that I am excited to be associated with. The Pledge To End Hunger is launching today. Tyson Foods, Share Our Strength, Hum. Minds at Work., MediaSauce and Kompolt have joined together to launch an interactive website aimed at ending childhood hunger. For each pledge made through the website, Tyson will donate 35 lbs of food product (equal to 140 servings). If (or when!) the goal of 1000 online pledges is made, a semi truck filled with 140,000 meals will be delivered to the Capital Area Food Bank of Texas in Austin during the upcoming SXSW Festival.
What's even cooler is the power you have to help your own community, too. If the 1000 pledge goal is surpassed, Tyson will send up to two more truckloads of food to the states who generate the most pledges.
I urge you to take just a few minutes to click on the link to the Pledge To End Hunger website and sign the online pledge. If you have a blog yourself, consider sharing it there. If your on Twitter you can follow @HungerPledge there and use #HungerPledge on your tweets to spread the world. E-mail family and friends about it, or join the Pledge to End Hunger Facebook cause. Do it all, or do just one. Do it for me, will ya? In the end, we're all doing it for the kids.
Thanks so much!
