The Christmas tree finally came down today.
Elena gleaned some tidbit from the Christmas program they had at school, where the upper elementary focused on international carols and gave a snippet of information about the various countries and their traditions. Apparently somewhere it is Bad Luck to take your decorations down before January 6th.
I knew enough to notice that January 6th is Epiphany, or Three Kings Day. And while I couldn't turn anything up in my brief search on the web to validate why exactly it's bad luck to undecorate, I could at least tie it in to a lesson on the three kings who came to visit baby Jesus.
So I proudly conducted my teachable moment and then proceeded to pack up those same three kings into a storage bin from Target. Sorry, guys, but we've got a Christmas tree that's one spark away from kindling in our living room.
So the Christmas tree and all the decorations are down. Let the good luck commence.

I remember that ornament! It was from Crate and Barrel! Love it –

You know you have a Crate & Barrel problem when you remember ornaments from years past! LOL, I’m guilty, too.
