Did you have a lovely Thanksgiving? I hope so. We did. As is our usual custom, we drove to Ohio (Akron, specifically) to spend the holiday with the Morgan clan. Elena was delighted to find the ground covered with snow there. Eli was delighted to find that great-grandma Joan had a fireplace with real fire in it. I was delighted that the whole time we stayed at Joan's the kids didn't break one thing.
Thanksgiving dinner was at Bill and Stephanie Delaney's. Bill has a giant Viking stove which I totally covet. He outdid himself once again. After spending the majority of our 11 years of marriage having Thanksgiving with this side of the family, I have finally learned how to truly enjoy the day: as soon as the food is ready, get your heiny to the front of the line. This is a family filled with big, strapping boys. Leftovers are a pipe dream. I'm not kidding, when Bill said dinner was ready, I dropped Eli on the floor, said a quick prayer that no one trampled him, and elbowed my way to the buffet. Totally worth it.
I was sad that there were no homemade pies from Pam Egan this year. I look forward to them all year, that girl can make a mean pie. But I forgive her, being she was in Barcelona and all. I'd give up some pie for some tapas, too.
I'll leave you with some of my favorite pictures from the day. Here's Eli with Mike's Aunt Laurie:
Our fabulous host and hostess, Bill & Stephanie, with their daughter, Kate. She makes it in the blog because she goes to Miami :) She's leaving for Luxembourg in a few weeks, lucky girl.
Elena has this troublesome habit of falling in love with slightly older male cousins. On my side of the family it's poor Zach who gets stalked at every family gathering. Timmy is the "chosen one" on this side. She is 100% smitten.
For once, Mike and I managed to find someone to take our picture. Yeah, yeah, we have oodles of cute picture of our kids, but sometime you just need one of you and your cute husband.
