Posts have been a little sporadic and uninspired here as I've been feeling pretty cruddy for a week now. We had a very late night at a very fun party last Saturday and I woke up Sunday with a sore throat. It's deteriorated from there. Unfortunately it's coincided with Elena's week-long fall break, so it hasn't been the most fun vacation for her. Still, the material keeps coming, whether I'm well enough to blog about it or not.
The other morning Elena woke up and made her way into the office where I was checking e-mail. She leaned against me and the first thing out of her mouth was, "What's the word, momma?"
Sickness or not, I usually like to have a glass of wine with dinner. As dinner is usually chaotic, I rarely have time to finish that glass. It usually follows me along as I get bedtime going for one or both kids. Tonight I had the glass in the bathroom while Eli was taking his bath. I forgot about it and left it on the counter. After I dried him off I let him wander around the upstairs nekkid while I picked up his room. There was quiet, then there was an odd clinking sound. Mike and I found him at the same time, on the step stool in the bathroom, playing with my wine. There was wine in the sink, on the counter, all down his front side. How he managed not to drop the glass on the tile floor is beyond me. Mike's all like, "Great, just what you what your kid to smell like at church on Sunday morning – alcohol." Just as I get him wiped off he proceeds to pee all over himself and the bathroom. So now he smells like booze and piss. I think we'll send him to the church nursery with his juice in a paper bag for the complete effect.
