They’re probably eliminating someone as I write this, and I have a feeling it’s going to be Carly. I’m still not over Michael Johns. My guess for the bottom three is Carly, Brooke and Kristy Lee. I loved David Cook’s version of Mariah’s "Be My Baby, " while Mike couldn’t stand it. Of course I can’t stand Mariah Carey’s music, so anything that didn’t resemble the original was a hit with me.
I’ve been staying up way too late watching my Tivo’d episodes of the HBO miniseries "John Adams." Is anyone else watching this? I’m hooked, and I’m especially enthralled with the scenes with John and Abigail Adams (Paul Giamatti and Laura Linney). If it’s true to what their relationship was really like, it’s stunning and enviable. I’d love to have the soundtrack as well. It reminds me of the soundtrack from "Last of the Mohicans," which oddly enough, I listened to non-stop in college, on my walkman while studying at Denny’s. Which probably explains why I failed organic chemistry. Twice.

Mike is wrong about David Cook. It was, in my opinion, the only interesting performance of the night…
David Archuletta is like a painter when photography came along. He creates a fine reproduction of a song, but really, who cares? I can buy a CD and hear the same thing over and over. Cook requires that I watch the show to see how he performs a given song.
But at least your daughter knows a spade when she sees it!

Woo hoo, KLC is gone (and now engaged!). Good for me and for her!
I’m envious that you have HBO and get to see John Adams. Cokie Roberts wrote a book on Founding Mothers which was more interesting than I had expected. Now I have her latest, Ladies of Liberty: The Women Who Shaped Our Nation. Abigail Adams is one of the ladies in this book, too. You know Cokie Roberts, she’s always on PBS.
