On Saturday we became a host family for a Flat Stanley paper doll, as part of a project a friend’s Montessori school in Arkansas is undertaking. If you’re not familiar with the story of Flat Stanley, he’s a character in a children’s book who is flattened while he sleeps when a bulletin board falls on him. You’re supposed to decorate your Stanley in a way that would represent where you live. Elena chose well, as our Stanley is truly stunning in his Indianapolis Colts blue.
We had tickets to one of the concerts in the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra’s Family Series today, so Stanley came with us. After the concert we took him up to the top of the Soldiers & Sailors monument so he could have a look around. Here they are, way up high, with the capitol in the background. We just happened to have lunch beforehand at one of my favorite spots, Cafe Patachou, which also happens to be a (supposed) favorite spot of Peyton & Ashley Manning as well. I keep hoping to run into him somewhere, but I guess he was a little busy this weekend, what with Eli getting married in Mexico and all. It’s too bad . . . he and Stanley would make such a nice pair.
We have Eli’s baptism coming up this weekend, so things will get a little hectic around here. Must get the house presentable, figure out a menu, lose 20 lbs, etc. So if I’m not posting, you know why.

Angie and Elena,
Thanks for hosting Flat Stanley. We have had a great response. I knew from reading your blog over the last year that Elena was a fan. Flat Stanley the Musical was here last week–very cute. I recommend you see it if you ever get the chance.
Much love,
Jaime and Isaiah (who come Novembee is finally gonna be a bg brother!)
