Elena figured out a looong time ago that her mom and dad tend to do the same thing very differently. The choice of radio programming on the way to school is a prime example. Today Mike took Elena to school. He prefers your usual pop-rock radio morning show. They were doing celebrity birthdays this morning, and apparently Eddie is 47 today. Elena chimed in with her2 cents: "Daddy, Eddie Murphy is the donkey in Shrek." Mike confessed later that he hoped Elena wouldn’t share her love of Eddie in school today ("Mrs. Bowe, I just love Eddie Murphy in 48 Hours. Beverly Hills Cop was a gem, too, don’t you think?")
Now when I take her to school, we’re usually listening to some kind of CD, usually Dan Zanes, the Beatles, or stories on CD, or NPR. The other morning when Iwas taking her in, we had Morning Edition on. They were doing some story on Afghanistan, and Elena pipes in, "Momma, did you know that Afghanistan is in Asia?"
Let’s just hope she shared that tidbit, and not the one about Eddie.
Speaking of birthdays, Eli is 8 months old today. And he’s getting his first tooth. His first date is right around the corner.
