it must be violin day. Every Tuesday at 3:30 we spend half an hour with Miss Mara, who never ceases to amaze me. I still haven’t been able to teach Elena how to tie her shoes. How she manages to teach her to play an actual musical instrument is beyond me. Elena must have gotten some important musical gene from Mike, because she just gets it. I’d say 2 months into lessons she had gone farther than I could comprehend. It will be a year since she started in May, and she still seems to be enjoying it. She’s starting to express an interest in piano, though. We have a piano that used to be in my parents’ house, and she likes to try and play her violin pieces on the piano.
If it’s Tuesday, it’s also "American Idol" day. Meaning, I’m so done updating the blog for tonight. Here’s hoping Kristy Lee Cook botches another Beatles song so she can go buh-bye. I don’t have an absolute favorite yet. So far my top picks are Brooke White, David Archuleta, Carly Smithson and Michael Johns. Anyone want to chime in?
Kristy Lee Cook looks like she’s on her way back to horsey land … thank God! Being practically a neighbor to Jason Castro, I can’t help but vote for him. He’s just so cute! Maybe it’s the dimples? I know I’m a little behind the ball on this one, but I think its too soon to tell. David Archuletta does sound good… but almost in a Celine-Dion/Whitney Houston-ish way… and I’m fundamentally against the foreigners considering its “American Idol” (I know, I know. That’s not a very American thing to say, is it?)
Right now I like Jason Castro and David Cook (minus the ego) the most.
