a picture, that is. This is how fried I am today: the camera’s batteries need charged, and I can’t work up the motivation to put them in the charger. I was feeling tired yesterday, mostly from one too many nights up past 10:30, and the time change just put me over the edge. I had big plans last night to go to bed early. Things were looking pretty good, too. Eli was in bed around 6:45 and Elena was in bed (though not sleeping) by 7:30. All I had to do was update the blog and order invites for Eli’s baptism, then it was off to bed for me. Here’s how it really went:
9:00 – Looking good. Teeth brushed, contacts out, jammies on, ready to settle in bed with my book.
9:15 – Eli’s awake. I think he thinks he just took a nice nap and he’s ready to go for an hour or two.
10:00 – Get Eli back to sleep. Take a couple of ibuprofen for monster headache that’s building. Settle into bed and just about to drift off when Elena begins a marathon bout of coughing. Everytime I start to fall out, she starts up again. Get up and give her cough medicine and rub her back to help her settle back into sleep.
11:45 – Elena is still hacking away and I’m about to kill someone. Take my pillow and a blanket downstairs to the couch so I don’t have to listen to it anymore. At some point I pass out.
2:30 – Wake up wondering where the &*(*& I am and with a huge crick in my neck. Stumble back up to my bed.
5:30 – Elena comes in to tell me she’s peed the bed. Get up, fix her bed, get her settled back in. Another round of coughing begins.
6:00 – Eli decides this is a fine morning to start the day before the crack of dawn. Listening to him grunt like a caveman for 20 minutes before I concede defeat. Make a big-ass pot of coffee and dream about going to bed early tonight.
