I found these daffodils at Trader Joe’s last week. They were just sitting in a basket, with instructions to take them home, cut half an inch off the bottom, stick them in water, and wait for them to open up. We all took turns "hypothesizing" when they would open up (I have no idea if that’s even a real word, but it’s been bantered around a lot since the science fair). It took about a day and a half (I win!), and they’ve been putting a smile on my face ever since. It’s the best $1.95 I’ve spent in a long time. I’ll just catch a whiff of them every now and then and it’s like instant spring. Which is helping a lot, since we are back in the throes of winter again after yesterday’s teaser. Half an inch of ice predicted for tonight. In the meantime I’ll just sniff my flowers and wait it out.
