Eli was 6 months old on Sunday. A very exciting day for him – half a year old AND his namesake became a Super Bowl champion and MVP. Elena(!!) took this fabulous picture of us a few days ago.
So how does Eli measure up at 6 months? He’s 20 lbs and 28 inches long. By comparison, Elena at this age was 14 lbs and 25 inches long. I felt like an idiot at the pediatrician’s office, though. She was listening to his lungs and inquired about his raspy, somewhat labored breathing when sitting up. I thought it was just because he was fat – apparently the poor kid has bronchiolitis. He got a breathing treatment in the office, which seemed to help.
Eli’s a sweet, good-natured boy who brings so much joy to our family. As long as you don’t mess with his food or his sleep, he’s a happy boy. I can totally relate. On the food front he’s been enjoying rice cereal, bananas, avocado and pears. He’s working so hard on sitting up. He’s awfully noisy, alternating between farting noises and babbling something that sounds like, "blah, blah, blah." Yadda, yadda, yadda soon to follow, I’m sure. His favorite toy is a Fisher Price Rainforest Jumpster. I’ll try to get a movie uploaded so you can see him bouncing his little heart out.
I just got back from a very fun and relaxing trip to Nashville . . . all by myself! Mike stayed behind with the kids so I could go to my annual scrapbooking retreat at Henry Horton State Park. I had a fabulous time visiting friends and working on our Disney scrapbook. By Sunday I was missing my family and so ready to get back. By Monday evening I was counting down the days to the end of March, when I have my girl’s trip! Hats off to Mike for cheerfully taking care of the kiddos and encouraging me to take time for myself.
