What a whirlwind it’s been around here! As a sign that we are truly in a different season of our lives, I’m sitting here on New Year’s Eve updating the blog. And Mike? Painting our bedroom. And we’re so fine with that. I feel really blessed to end this year snug in my home, with my wonderful husband working away and my kids, healthy and dreaming in their beds.
We had a wonderful, low-key Christmas. For the first time in 4 years, my entire family was able to get together just before Christmas. Wish it happened more often than that, but so thankful for the time we were able to spend together. My parents have been married 48 years!!! Here they are with me and my brother, Donnie, and my sisters, Suzan and Ana. Love that we caught the sign on the wall: "All because two people fell in love"
Christmas morning it was just our little family, opening presents by our really little tree. Early December was just one thing after another for us (illness, surgery, broken attic stairs, oh my!), so we decided to just get a little Charlie Brown tree and let Elena decorate herself. Although I miss having a big tree, the little tree was lots of fun. I think we might just have to do 2 trees next year. I love this picture of Elena – she’s literally jumping for joy on Christmas morning.
Eli just watched and took it all in. Now that I think about it, having 2 trees might be a huge mistake next year. I can only imagine how hard it’s going to be to keep him away from one! Later in the day my parents and my sisters came over. Good food, good wine, good company, merry, merry.
Thanks to all of you for being a part of our lives this year. I wish you all peace, joy and good health in the new year. Love and blessings from our family to yours!
