I’m embarrassed at how long it’s been since I’ve posted. May and June are always crazy months for us, and this year has proved to be no different. We’ve had trips, mother’s day, our 10-year anniversary, end-of -school, Mike’s birthday, father’s day, Elena’s birthday, and 2 major home projects . . . whew! We’re really hoping for a slow July so we can maybe do a thing or two to get ready for this baby. Poor baby #2! By this time with Elena we had the nursery ready and decorated perfectly, just waiting for her to arrive. As of now, baby’s room is a jumbled mess of stuff we don’t know where to relocate. Crib is still up in the attic. Baby clothes unpacked, washed and put away? Ha!
So just a few highlights and pics to catch you up on the Six fam.
In May, Mike and I celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary. My parents once again graciously offered to keep Elena for a few days so we could celebrate with a trip. We spent 4 days in New York City. We stayed at a fabulous hotel near Times Square, the City Club Hotel. Really cool room, fantastic location, and great service. I highly recommend it if you’re ever in need of a room in NYC. We spent most of our trip wandering, just taking in all the places you’ve seen on TV and in movies. We went to the top of the Empire State Building, ate at Tom’s Diner (the diner from Seinfeld), and shopped and explored so many cool places (SoHo, Greenwich Village, 5th Avenue, Madison Avenue, Central Park). We also took the subway out to the Bronx to catch a Yankees-Red Sox game. All in all a great trip with my sweetie. We’re very lucky and blessed.
Here’s Elena on her first soccer team. The picture is from back in April . . . believe me, it’s a teensy bit warmer here now. She loved playing and was so thrilled to get a REAL trophy. Soccer is over until fall, so now we’re into swim lessons and violin. I will most definitely post a picture of Elena with her violin. It’s just about the cutest thing I’ve ever seen. Practicing is no joke, though. I’m not sure who’s learning more, me or her. Elena turns 5 on June 28th. Unbelievable to me.
On Sunday Elena and I are off on our last trip together before the baby comes. I’m not sure what’s gotten in to me, but my 7-month-preggo butt and Elena are headed to Texas. We’ll spend a few days visiting my sister in Dallas, then another couple of days in Tulsa, OK visiting my dear friend, Julie. The odd thing is, right now it’s actually cooler in Texas than it is here. So keep your fingers crossed that all goes well and I don’t end up having this baby on the airplane!
