Because Camo and Fedoras Totally Go Together: OshKosh B’gosh #ImagineSpring

Disclosure: This is a sponsored post on behalf of Influence Central for OshKosh B’gosh. I received a gift card to purchase clothing, but all images and thoughts are my own. The funky fresh spring attitude and style is 100% Eli.

Do you shop at OshKosh B’gosh? For years I only thought of them as that company that made those overalls. It wasn’t until my friend Julie tipped me off to the OshKosh store that I realized how much more OshKosh had to offer. She’s a pro at dressing her kids for fabulous photo shoots, and she shops the OshKosh racks frequently for stylish and fun coordinating kids’ clothing at great prices. Having been the lucky benefactor of many of her son’s OshKosh hand-me-downs, I can attest that the clothing not only looks great, but holds up well to rough and tumble play that comes along with being a kid.

When OshKosh asked if Eli and I would be up for a little shopping spree in their store to get Eli’s wardrobe ready for spring, we were both pumped. We’re headed to Texas for spring break adventures (and hopefully something that actually resembles spring temperatures). We’re ready to ditch the long sleeves, dark colors and layers behind for lighter, brighter colors, fun patterns and prints to usher in spring and summer.

I rarely take Eli shopping with me, preferring to grab stuff while I’m out and hope that he’ll like it. What a mistake! He loved shopping for his own things in the OshKosh store, and picked out things I never would’ve considered for him. It’s so fun to see his own fresh style revealed in the outfits he put together himself.

Right off the bat he loved these Mesh Shorts and the Baseball Active Tee. He was super excited about the tee, as we just signed him up for his first season of baseball. I’m not gonna lie, I was a little nervous at this point. Eli would live in sports pants and tees if given the choice. I was preparing my “boys cannot live by drawstring alone” speech when he spotted a fedora. A fedora!

I would never, in a million years, have picked up a fedora while shopping for Eli and thought, “He’ll love it!” But he does, and so do I … The Perfect Gentleman, indeed. It looks just as good with this graphic tee as it does with dressier shirts.

Eli has a slight camo obsession. He comes by it honestly … I feel the same way about stripes. I was ready to say no to any new camo, but he fell hard for this Camo Surfer Tank. I gave in because the fresh, light colors are a change from all the dark green came he already has. Also, he spent several minutes flexing his muscles in the dressing room mirror. “Look at these guns, Mom!” Okay, fine. I also let him walk out the door with Camo Flip Flops. In related news, I’m a pushover. He paired them with navy Camp Shorts. Sunglasses are from his private collection. (I couldn’t resist typing that. Makes me feel like a “real, alive” fashion blogger, as Eli would say.)

Just to show you how difficult Mother Nature is making it for us to #ImagineSpring here in Indiana, I give you Exhibit A: sleet. Thank goodness these sharp grey Skinny Jeans and Mesh Sneakers will make the transition from cold, gloomy days to bright, sunny ones. Sunny days are right around the corner, right? Right??!!

Eli’s skeptical. So am I, Mother Nature. SO AM I.  For now, we’ll take solace in this bright yellow Graphic Tee.

A Few of My Favorite Things {in November}

I’ll never share a product or link to a product that I don’t have personal experience with, though.

I might have skipped a month, but hey! This will be the third Favorite Things post! I hereby declare it an official series. You’ve been warned.

On a rare date night last month, Mike and I had some time to kill before our movie. We wandered around Nordstrom for a bit and I found what I thought was a steal: this Drape Neck Zip Cardigan by Caslon. It was one of those pieces I wasn’t sure about, but if I’ve learned one thing when it comes to dressing myself, it’s to never judge an outfit on the hanger. The cutest things on the rack will look terrible on me, while that one thing I couldn’t possibly wear will look absolutely fabulous. This jacket fell under the fabulous category, and I thought it was $40. SOLD. It turns out I’d looked at a tag for a different color. Sadly, the black was $68. I loved it though, so I gritted my teeth and bought it anyway.

Such a good decision. I wear it a couple of times a week, and it looks cute dressed up to go out or dressed down with jeans and tennies. Bonus: it feels like you’re wearing the most comfortable sweatshirt ever.

It’s the season of all things pumpkin, and while I don’t go crazy with the pumpkin spice (I’m even over Starbuck’s Pumpkin Spice Lattes, which would’ve made 2009 Angie unfriend 2014 Angie), I do like pumpkin things in moderation. Except this Pumking brew from Southern Tier. I could drink a lot of it, all the way through spring. Try to find some before it’s gone.

I’m a magazine junkie, but I’ve tried to cut down and simplify my subscriptions over the years. I just don’t have the time or the money to subscribe to all the magazines I love. I got a free 60-day trial to Next Issue from Klout, and I have to say, I think I’m going to keep it going. For $9.99 a month, you get unlimited digital access to over 140 magazines. All of my favorites are there, as well as titles that the kids enjoy as well. And as loyal as I am to actual books over e-readers, I kind of love not dealing with a physical magazine. I always felt so wasteful when I’d finished one in 30 minutes and had no use for it anymore. You can get a free trial for 30 days, so if you have a guilty magazine habit like I do, check it out!

What are some of your favorite things right now?
