You Get What You Pay For

October 26, 2011 angie

Last week was my first full week of working at The Container Store.  Of course, this conveniently fell during the same week that Eli was on Fall Break.  Seeing as how having multiple scheduling conflicts during your first week of employment probably doesn’t sit well with the people you’d like to impress, I asked my parents if they might be able to help us out a little.

Let me just say, we are so incredibly blessed and lucky to have my parents nearby.  I can’t even get the full request out of my mouth before they’ve volunteered to help out in whatever way we need them.  So let’s just keep that in mind, before I show you these very incriminating pictures.  Let’s just begin with how very much we love my parents and are grateful for their help (I find that flattery and general sucking up always lessens the blow of incriminating photographs) (Also, I apologize for the quality of the photographs – Blackberry photography at its finest).

So, yeah.  I had to work smack in the middle of the day last week, so my parents stayed with Eli.  Mike made it home before me, and this is where he found Babysitter #1, also known as Grandpa:

Sleeping on the job

He found Babysitter #2, also known as Abuela, pulling her weight and then some in the back yard.

Abuela plays football

At first glance, you might worry that tackling a 70-something grandmother could be dangerous.  Lord help us if our babysitter breaks a hip.  Upon further review, however, it looks more like Abuela pulled a Polamalu on Eli and has moved on to trash-talking the tyke.

It’s just so hard to find good help these days.

Hey, she had her helmet on…thus setting a fine example for the up and coming football star.

Wearing a helmet? I’ve never ever seen her wear a helmet. Maybe she’ll wear one around my boys, so they’ll be motivated to wear theirs on the moped. I may have to yarnbomb that helmet of hers!

It would appear to be a tenured position. Cush work if you can get it, though.
