Eli’s Baptism

It was another lovely spring day here today, a perfect day to have Eli baptized.  We were blessed to be surrounded by friends and family at our church, St. Luke’s United Methodist.  We were also very close to having Barack Obama celebrating with us!  Turns out he was campaigning in Indiana today and chose to attend services at our church this morning.  Unfortunately he was at the 11 o’clock service, and our family (who ALWAYS goes to 11 o’clock) was at the early service.  Oh well, Eli’s supporting Hillary, so I guess it wasn’t meant to be.

Do you see the lilacs behind the cake?  Just in time for today our bush has bloomed.  Lilacs are my absolute favorite scent (well, that’s not food related anyways), and I was heartbroken last spring when the buds were frozen by a late cold snap.   I love them so much I didn’t even mind when I cut a huge chunk out of my finger with the scissors trying to cut some stems to bring inside.

We had a really lovely brunch at our house afterward, and now I’m sitting here with enough sausage balls and deli meat to feed a small army.  So if  you’re hungry and in the neighborhood stop by and have a sammy on us.

Here’s a rare shot of the four of us together . . . not the best pic, but at least we’re all in the picture.

And a really sweet one of my mom with Eli:

We are surely counting our blessings today.
